DERMALINFUSION® (FORMERLY KNOWN AS SILKPEEL™)
Microdermabrasion is a way of gently removing the stratum corneum, which is the dead outer protective layer of the skin. It provides a bit of a barrier to the sun and anything that comes into contact with the skin, but it also gets in the way of absorption of beneficial products as well as skin turnover to promote skin metabolism.
Hydrodermabrasion uses water in conjunction with a diamond tip to gently exfoliate the skin. It is adjustable from extremely light to very aggressive so that we can tailor the treatment to the individual and their goals. This allows us to simultaneously infuse products that can hydrate, lighten, tighten pores and reduce acne or fortify so that the procedure is really 2 in one. Even the most sensitive-skin individual may benefit from a silk peel that has been adjusted for their skin type.
How do I know if I need DERMALINFUSION®?
Patients looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, age spots and acne concerns with no downtime are good candidates for this procedure. Patients who have diabetes, autoimmune disease, history of cold sores or have had injectable fillers in the area to be treated should let us know prior to having the DERMALINFUSION® treatment. All skin types can benefit from the DERMALINFUSION® treatment.
How does DERMALINFUSION® work?
The DERMALINFUSION® can help anyone who has acne, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, brown spots, mild wrinkles, skin dullness and large pores. Unlike other microdermabrasions, the DERMALINFUSION® System combines non-invasive exfoliation with deep delivery of patient-specific solutions directly to the skin - without the use of crystal or other chemical exfoliants. DERMALINFUSION® is exclusively offered through facilities with medical directors on staff, and isn't available at a typical day spa or salon. The procedure is non-invasive and even soothing; delivering the results you want without harsh chemicals or uncomfortable treatments. The DERMALINFUSION® is a 30 minute treatment and patients can return to activities immediately.
HydraFacial vs Dermalinfusion:
The HydraFacial is a skin resurfacing treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin. With its patented Vortex tip, the device simultaneously removes dead skin cells and other impurities from the skin, while infusing the cells with serums that cleanse and moisturize.*
The HydraFacial combines Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid to chemically exfoliate the skin. This can have a positive effect on patients who struggle with active acne, but can dry and irritate clients who are not steadily experiencing breakouts. Unfortunately, the serum is housed in large containers of multi-use solutions, which could affect the efficacy due to exposure to light and air. Treatment takes about 30 minutes or less, and there is virtually no pain or downtime.*
Dermalinfusion is more customizable. It’s more than a facial - its a medical-grade treatment and more corrective.
The Dermalinfusion treatment combines non-invasive microdermabrasion and Dermalinfusion. It is equipped with a diamond tip and uses microdermabrasion technology to slough off the top layer of dead skin cells. This helps to address the buildup of dead skin, discoloration, and can stimulate collagen and elastin production; therefore reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.* Dermalinfusion involves the delivery of topical solutions that penetrate the dermal skin layers and initiate cell regeneration.*
Unique to Dermalinfusion, there are four different serums that can be used during the treatment, which are chosen by your Aesthetician or Physician during your consultation.
- The Hydrating serum that delivers intensive hydration using Hyaluronic Acid.*
- The Clarity solution that uses a combination of Salicylic acid and hydrating properties to gently exfoliate clients who are experiencing breakouts, without over drying the skin.*
- The Patented Lumyxl Brightening serum combines various unique brightening agents that are used to lift and lighten existing pigments due to post inflammation or sun damage.*
- The Vitamin-C serum which infuses the skin with a potent dose of vitamin-C which delivers powerful antioxidants as well as anti-aging and brightening benefits to the skin.*
The Dermalinfusion uses individual prepackaged disposable treatment heads to ensure no cross-contamination between patients. Every patient also receives his or her very own individually packaged infusion solution to use in its entirety during the treatment to ensure proper sanitation protocols. Basically, the solutions are always fresh.
The Dermalinfusion can be used on almost every skin type, due to the interchangeability of grit in the diamond-tip headpiece.* There are roughly six different options starting at a grit of 140 (for extremely sensitive skin, including rosacea) all the way to a grit of 60 (for thickened aging skin.) No matter the size of grit, when properly executed, the treatment has little to no downtime.* It not only evenly exfoliates the skin, but it also rehydrates dry damaged skin without over-processing it.*
Patients receive a more thorough exfoliation and a luxurious sanitary experience.
If you want to treat those stubborn blackheads, acne scarring, fine lines, or just need a total facial rejuvenation but don’t want to do any invasive harsh treatments, the Dermalinfusion can be the perfect option for you!*
What benefits can I expect?
To jump start your new skin we recommend 3-4 treatments 2 weeks apart and maintenance every 2-3 months. However, even one dermalinfusion treatment will usually refresh your skin for up to six weeks!
It’s an awesome treatment for acne (with our pore refining solution), wrinkles, brown spots, rosacea, and for overall anti-aging (with the vitamin C and ultrahydrating solutions).
What are the risks and side effects?
Usually there is no downtime with the DERMALINFUSION®, but some patients can experience tightening of the skin and mild exfoliation. Post treatment the skin may be slightly pink but this should last for about one hour. Prior to treatment all potential risks and side effects will be discussed with you by your medical provider and cosmetic coordinator.
How will I look and feel during and after the treatment?
Your skin care professional will choose one or more of our specialized Pro Infusions, formulated to address a variety of skin conditions. The DERMALINFUSION® infuses these products deep into the skin where they are most effective. The solution delivers hydrating, antioxidant, acne-fighting and pore-reducing, and/or lightening infusions into your skin. After cleansing and preparing your skin, your esthetician will perform the procedure with the specialized hand-piece.
The treatment uses a closed-loop vacuum system resembling that of a wand to exfoliate the skin. An aesthetician will recommend the appropriate topical to infuse the skin and stimulate new cell growth. Each pass gently abrades away dead skin, thoroughly and evenly exfoliating while infusing the treatment solution into the skin. Your skin immediately looks clearer and brighter and definitely feels smoother and your makeup will go on easily. Patients can return back to work post treatment or resume their everyday routine. Mineral makeup is recommended as it heals and soothes the skin without irritation post procedure and covers up possible redness which should lighten after a few hours.
Is there another way to get the same effect?
Alternative forms of treatment for wrinkles and scars include BOTOX Cosmetic, Injectable fillers, Halo, BBL, Profractional laser, microneedling, tissue tightening and laser peels, resurfacing, surgery, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and topical therapies. The DERMALINFUSION® is different from other treatments as it is does not use harsh crystals that can irritate the skin like other microdermabrasion treatments.
Can this be combined with other treatments?
The DERMALINFUSION® may be combined with many other cosmetic treatments in our office such as Photorejuvenation, Tissue Tightening Lasers, BOTOX Cosmetic and Injectable fillers. Many patients choose to undergo combination treatments in order to achieve the maximum aesthetic result.
